Ahanga Health Foundation

The Ahanga model

Two hubs. Four pillars. One goal.

Ahanga operates through a hybrid two-hub framework, the B.R.A.V.E Hub and the N.E.S.T Hub, working together across four programme pillars that connect family support, NICU readiness, data and research.

A hybrid structure

Two hubs share one framework. Each pillar below is delivered through the work of both hubs.

B.R.A.V.E Hub

N.E.S.T Hub

Hub name as supplied. Full meaning to be confirmed by the foundation.

Working together across four pillars

Pillar 01

Support preterm babies and their families

Direct, practical support for babies born too soon and the people who care for them, from the first hours in the NICU to life at home.

Draws on the family support services described in the organisation profile.

Pillar 02

Support NICU readiness to provide quality care

Helping neonatal intensive care units stand ready to deliver quality care, with the right equipment, supplies and skilled people.

Connects to the equipment and healthcare-worker training programmes described on the About page.

Pillar 03

Support data needs

Good decisions about newborn care depend on good information. Ahanga supports the everyday work of gathering data, keeping it organised, presenting it clearly and putting it to use where care is delivered.

Explained in plain language. No specific software platform is implied.

Pillar 04

Support research and scholarship

Building the evidence base for better newborn care in Uganda, and supporting the people who produce it.

Connects to the research, innovation and data work described on the About page.

Built for collaboration

Hospitals, specialists, universities, researchers, government agencies, NGOs and private-sector partners all have a place in this framework. If your work touches newborn care, we would like to hear from you.
